Are ladybugs lucky?

I've always heard that ladybugs are lucky. I believe it all goes back to their dietary habits, they like to eat "pest" insects, and are generally beneficial to crops.

I don't know about all that. I was just outside smoking, and was practically attacked by a small swarm of 15-20 ladybugs. It still feels like they are crawling around in my shirt.

Of course, if I were to come home & find my wife dressed like this, I'd be very lucky indeed :)
